Live Fish Shipping Policy

Enjoy a seamless shopping experience with top-tier aquarium gear and a curated selection of healthy freshwater fish and live plants—all priced to keep your hobby affordable.

From the moment you click “buy” to the moment your parcel arrives, we handle every order with the same meticulous care we give our own tanks.

1. Shipping Days & Service

We dispatch live fish every Monday and Tuesday morning via NZ Couriers’ overnight service to minimise transit time and avoid weekend delays.

2. No Pick-Ups

Due to bio-security reasons, customer pick-ups are not available.

3. Where We Ship

  • Live fish are shipped nation-wide within New Zealand (including urban Auckland).

  • No international shipments.

4. Rural Delivery Exclusion

We cannot send live fish to Rural Delivery (RD) addresses. Please supply a non-rural (“urban”) address—for example a workplace, friend, or local courier depot.

5. Packing Standards

Fish are fasted for 24 hours, health-checked, then double-bagged with pure oxygen, sealed, and placed inside insulated poly boxes with heat- or cool-packs as needed. Parcels are clearly marked “LIVE FISH – PERISHABLE” and fully tracked.

6. Order Cut-Off

Orders placed after 11 : 59 p.m. Monday (NZST) ship the following Monday/Tuesday cycle.

7. Live-Arrival (DOA) Guarantee

If any fish arrive dead on arrival (DOA), follow these steps:

  1. Within 2 hours of the courier’s recorded delivery time, email us with a continuous, unedited video clearly showing the unopened bag and the DOA fish inside.

  2. Keep the bag sealed until we confirm your claim.

  3. Once approved, you will receive store credit for the livestock value (valid for 12 months). Shipping fees are non-refundable.

Failure to meet the two-hour video-evidence requirement voids the guarantee.

8. Conditions & Exclusions

  • Someone must be present for the first delivery attempt; missed attempts void DOA cover.

  • Losses due to incorrect addresses, forwarding, post-acclimation issues, or tank-mate incompatibility are not covered.

  • Certain delicate or oversized species may ship at buyer’s risk (clearly noted on their product pages).

9. Weather & Courier Delays

We may postpone dispatch during extreme weather or known courier disruptions. If unforeseen delays occur, any reimbursement remains at our discretion.

10. Customer Agreement

By purchasing live fish from us, you confirm that:

  • You have provided an urban New Zealand address and daytime phone number.

  • Someone will be available to receive the parcel on the first delivery attempt.

  • You accept all terms outlined in this Live Fish Shipping Policy.
