Contrary to popular belief, this plant can be placed in soil and in fact does much better in soil, provided its rhizome is not completely submerged. Being a low-energy and slow growing plant, they do best when positioned under shade. Be careful not to place these against high-lights or risk algae growing on the leaf's surface.
