Bacopa Platinum Tissue Culture (Aquascaping Essentials)

Bacopa monnieri 'Platinum', or platinum bacopa, is a rare colour mutation of the classic green bacopa. It carries the same small, rounded, paired leaves on upright stems, but in a soft, pale silver green that catches the light. Use it as a calm midground hedge or a light toned accent towards the background.

In your tank it grows as an upright stem, best planted in small groups a few centimetres apart so it fills in as a soft block of colour. The pale foliage holds its best tone with steady, consistent conditions: medium light, CO2 and a good nutrient supply from a rich substrate and regular dosing. Trim on a schedule to keep tight internodes and a compact shape, and replant the healthiest tops to build density. It is rewarding to grow well and holds a refined, high end look once it is settled.

This plant is grown in a sterile tissue culture cup, densely packed and free of snails, algae, pests and disease, so it starts your tank clean.

How to plant your tissue culture Bacopa

1. Rinse the clear nutrient gel from the base of the plant.
2. Divide it into small portions.
3. Plant each portion into the substrate with tweezers, spaced a few centimetres apart to fill in.
4. Leave the roots undisturbed while it settles in.
