Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini', usually shortened to AR Mini, is a compact red variety of a South American aquatic plant. It carries small, narrow leaves in shades of red through to purple, and its low, bushy habit suits the midground to foreground of a planted aquarium.
It grows at a moderate pace and rewards a little attention. Regular trimming keeps it dense and encourages the tight, bushy shape it is known for. Medium lighting brings out the red tones, and adding CO2 deepens the colour and helps it fill in evenly. Plant several close together for a bold splash of red against green.
