Alternanthera reineckii 'Rosanervig', also called Pink Vein Alternanthera, is a colourful stem plant with bright pink leaves marked by pale, light-coloured veins that give it a clear network pattern. That vein detail sets it apart from other red and pink stems and makes it a strong focal point in the midground to background of a planted tank.
It grows upright, from roughly 10 to 40cm tall, so you can plant it mid-tank in smaller aquariums or further back in larger ones. It holds its pink best under medium to strong light, and it responds well to CO2 and iron-rich feeding, which deepen the colour and keep new growth compact. It is easy to propagate: trim the tops and replant the cuttings to build a fuller group over time. It settles happily in slightly acidic to neutral water around pH 6.0 to 7.0 and temperatures of 22 to 28C.

The change to full submerged growth begins in our grow-out tanks, so the plant arrives already adjusting to underwater life, which maximises your success once it settles into your aquarium. Submerged means growing fully underwater, the form the plant keeps in your tank. Emersed means grown with the leaves above the waterline, as many aquatic plants are farmed, and these forms can differ in leaf shape and colour until the plant converts.
