About Tissue Culture Plants
About Tissue Culture Plants
What’s the Deal with Tissue Culture Plants?
Tiny plants. Big benefits. Zero unwanted surprises.
Grown in a Lab (On Purpose)
These aren’t your average aquarium plants.
Tissue culture plants are grown in pristine lab conditions — no pests, no snails, no algae. Just vibrant, healthy growth suspended in a sealed pot of nutrient gel that looks like dessert (but please, don’t).
Why They’re a Big Deal
- 100% algae-free — start clean, stay clean
- No snails — unless you’re into surprise hitchhikers
- Pesticide-free — safe for shrimp, snails, and sensitive fish
- Incredible value — you get heaps of plant once it’s split and planted
- Long shelf life — lasts weeks sealed in its cup (great for planning your scape)
- Small in size, big on payoff
How to Use (Don’t Just Chuck It In)
Peel the lid — it’ll feel oddly satisfying
- Rinse off the gel (do not plant the goo)
- Divide into small chunks — trust us, there’s more than it looks
- Plant using tweezers, spaced evenly across the substrate
- Watch it take off like it’s been waiting its whole life to grow in your tank
Pro tip: One pot can cover a surprising amount of space — plant wisely and it’ll spread quickly.
Lab Grown, Algae Free, Snail Free.
Grown in sterile conditions with no snails, algae, or hitchhikers — the cleanest start for any freshwater tank.
Great Value in Every Cup
Each tissue culture cup contains multiple portions — simply rinse, divide, and plant. One pot can cover more ground than you'd expect!
Anubias Barteri var. Angustifolia is a stunning and hardy aquatic plant known for its long, slender green leaves. Its elongated foliage sets it apart from other Anubias varieties, adding a touch of elegance and flow to aquascapes of all styles. With its narrow leaf shape and robust growth habit, this plant works beautifully in mid-ground placements, attached to rocks, driftwood, or as an accent along the hardscape.
At Aquascaping Essentials, our tissue culture plants are densely packed into sealed containers, providing an abundance of healthy plants that are pest, algae, snail, and disease-free. This ensures an exceptional value for money while giving your aquascape a clean and thriving start.
Anubias Barteri var. Angustifolia is low maintenance and thrives under low to moderate light conditions, making it perfect for low-tech setups. CO2 is not required, though it can promote slightly faster growth. Its slow growth rate reduces the need for frequent trimming, allowing for easy upkeep. Like all rhizome plants, the rhizome must remain exposed to avoid rot and can be securely attached to rocks, driftwood, or décor with thread or glue.
The tough, durable leaves of Anubias Angustifolia are highly resistant to nibbling from herbivorous fish, making it an excellent choice for tanks with plant-grazing species. Its long leaves provide shade and shelter for fish, shrimp, and fry, enhancing the natural feel of your aquarium.
Ideal for both beginners and seasoned aquarists, this plant adds height, texture, and elegance to aquascapes. Whether used as a mid-ground feature or part of a lush jungle-style layout, Anubias Barteri var. Angustifolia offers lasting beauty and functionality with minimal effort.
