Description
Doctor-Gen 5 is the newest generation of Chihiros’ steriliser/clarifier system. The compact head unit sits outside the tank with a clear display for time and water temperature; a low-profile mesh reactor and temp probe go inside the aquarium. Using controlled micro-electrolysis, the device generates oxidising species in measured pulses—designed to inhibit algae and reduce microbial load—while the app logs temperature and lets you fine-tune operation to suit planted, fish, or shrimp setups. The magnetic, waterproof connector makes swapping the mesh cartridge quick and tidy, and you can set safe temperature ranges so the indicator light and app let you know when things drift out of bounds. For remote push notifications, pair it with the optional Wi-Fi Hub Mate.
Setup is deliberately beginner-friendly: choose your tank type, input volume (L/gal), and the Doctor 5 handles the program timing—no manual TDS entry required. Chihiros recommends use in aquariums with TDS under 500 ppm and replacing the mesh reactor roughly every 6 months (the mesh reactor carries a 3-month warranty) and is meant to be regularly replaced.

Good to Know
