Cryptocoryne axelrodii is a compact, lesser known crypt with narrow, lance shaped leaves. Depending on light and nutrients the foliage shifts from olive green to a warm reddish bronze, giving it a soft, natural look. It sits comfortably in the midground of small to medium tanks, and works as a low background accent in nano setups.

This is a rosette plant that stays low and manageable and spreads slowly by runners to form a small group over time. Like most crypts it is hardy and adaptable, happy in low light and low tech tanks, and growing a little denser and faster if you add CO2, root tabs or a nutrient rich substrate. It is normal for a crypt to lose some leaves, or "melt", soon after going into a new tank. Leave the roots undisturbed and fresh growth follows.

Our plants are harvested fresh and algae free, and their conversion to submerged form begins in our grow-out tanks, which maximises success once the plant settles into your aquarium. Submerged growth is the underwater form the plant takes once established in your tank. Emersed growth is the above-water form grown with leaves in humid air, which is common while a plant is being cultivated.
