Cryptocoryne beckettii 'Petchii' is a small variety of Cryptocoryne beckettii from Sri Lanka, which has beautiful, slightly fluted leaf margins, 10-15 cm long. Leaves become dark olive-brown with violet underside. Like many other Cryptocorynes, the leaf colour and shape depends largely on environmental conditions in the aquarium.
Care Instructions
- Lighting: Thrives under low to moderate light; consistent lighting helps bring out deeper coloration in the leaves.
- CO₂: Not essential but beneficial—CO₂ supplementation promotes stronger growth and richer hues.
- Nutrients: Performs best with a nutrient-rich substrate; supplement with root tabs to support healthy root development.
- Placement: Suitable for the foreground to midground; allow space for runners to spread naturally over time.
- Temperature: 22°C – 28°C
- pH: 6.0 – 7.5
- Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water
- Growth Rate: Slow-growing, making it easy to manage with minimal trimming.
- Tank Compatibility: Ideal for community tanks, shrimp habitats, and densely planted aquascapes.
