Cryptocoryne beckettii 'Petchii', a compact variety of the beckettii crypt, has narrow, wavy-edged leaves that shift through green, bronze and reddish tones depending on light and conditions. It stays low and bushy, which suits the mid-ground to foreground of a planted tank where its colour and texture add contrast. Like all Cryptocoryne it is a rosette plant, growing from a central crown rather than as stems.
This is an easygoing, adaptable plant that settles into low to moderate light and does not need CO2. A nutrient-rich substrate and root tabs help it grow in and deepen the reddish-brown hues. It spreads slowly by runners, forming dense clusters over time, and its robust leaves stand up well to grazing fish. If a few leaves melt back after planting, that is normal for a crypt adjusting to a new tank; new growth follows once the roots take hold.
Grown in sterile tissue culture and arriving in a densely packed cup, it is free of snails, algae, pests and disease, giving your aquascape a clean, healthy start.

How to plant your tissue culture Cryptocoryne
- Rinse the clear nutrient gel from the base of the plants.
- Divide the portion into several small clumps.
- Plant each clump into the substrate with tweezers, spaced out so they fill in as they grow.
- Leave the roots undisturbed while the plant settles and puts out new growth.
