Cryptocoryne pontederiifolia ‘Schott’ is a hardy crypt with broad, lance-shaped green leaves and a glossy surface. Its bold, rosette growth gives it real presence, sitting well in the midground or as a focal point in smaller aquariums. Under good conditions the leaves can take on a subtle bronze or reddish tint.
This is a rosette plant that spreads slowly by runners, forming dense clusters that fill in space over time. It settles happily in low to moderate light without added CO2, and a nutrient-rich substrate with root tabs will push fuller, faster growth. The tough leaves shrug off nibbling from grazing fish, so it holds its shape well in community and nano tanks. A little melt after planting is normal for crypts, so leave it be and it will push new leaves as it adjusts.
It is grown in sterile tissue culture and arrives in a densely packed cup, free of snails, algae, pests and disease, giving your tank a clean start.
