Echinodorus Barthii, also known as the Red Melon Sword, is a stunning aquatic plant that adds a bold, dynamic touch to any aquascape. Renowned for its unique foliage, this plant features leaves that emerge in a rich red hue and transition to deep green as they mature, creating a vibrant and ever-changing display. Its size and striking coloration make it an ideal focal point for midground or background placement in larger aquariums.
Growing up to 25–50 cm (10–20 inches) tall and spanning 20–30 cm (8–12 inches) wide, Echinodorus Barthii thrives in nutrient-rich substrates with moderate to high lighting. While it is adaptable to a variety of water parameters, supplementing with CO₂ and micronutrients enhances its growth and intensifies its red pigmentation.
This hardy plant is well-suited for both beginner and experienced aquarists, requiring minimal maintenance beyond occasional pruning to prevent it from overshadowing smaller plants. It is propagated through adventitious plantlets that develop on its flower stalks, making it easy to expand your collection.
