Echinodorus Uruguayensis – Uruguayan Sword Plant is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Echinodorus uruguayensis, the Uruguayan sword plant, is a South American native with long, ribbon-like leaves and wavy edges that range from bright green to a darker reddish-brown. It grows as a rosette and, reaching up to 55cm, sits well in the midground or background of larger tanks.
Give it a nutrient-rich substrate and it settles into steady, moderate growth, its undulating leaves adding movement and offering natural cover for fish. It is an easygoing plant that copes with a range of conditions, and CO2 and regular feeding are optional extras that push fuller growth and stronger colour rather than being a must. It spreads readily too, sending out young plantlets on its flower stalks that you can separate and replant.

Submerged: growing fully underwater, the form the plant takes once established in your tank. Emersed: grown with the leaves above the waterline, as many aquatic plants are farmed, before they transition to submerged growth.
