Eleocharis acicularis, or hair grass, is a fine, grass-like carpeting plant with delicate needle-like leaves. It spreads low across the foreground and forms a soft green meadow, a favourite in Iwagumi and nature-style aquascapes.
In your tank it spreads by runners, sending out fresh shoots that knit together into a dense carpet over time. Medium light keeps it low and compact, while dimmer tanks tend to make it grow taller and sparser. CO2 is not required, but it helps the carpet fill in tighter and faster. A regular trim encourages horizontal spread and keeps the meadow even. It sits happily in cooler water, around 18 to 26C, and tolerates a wide range of hardness and pH.

Our hair grass is harvested fresh and algae free, and its conversion to submerged form begins in our grow-out tanks, so it is ready to settle in and take off once it reaches your aquarium.
Submerged means grown underwater, the form the plant takes once established in your aquarium. Emersed means grown above the waterline with the leaves in air, a common way plants are cultivated before they transition to underwater growth.
