Description
Description
Helanthium bolivianum 'Latifolius', formerly classified under Echinodorus, is a small, fast-growing sword plant ideal for foreground planting. Often referred to as the Dwarf Sword, this variety develops short, broad leaves and spreads quickly via runners, forming a vibrant, lawn-like carpet across the substrate.
This species is native to South America and thrives in a variety of tank setups, from low-tech planted tanks to high-light, CO₂-injected aquascapes. It grows best in a nutrient-rich substrate and appreciates regular trimming to maintain its compact form and prevent shading.
An excellent choice for aquascapers looking to create natural, dense green foregrounds with minimal effort.
Key Features
- Foreground Carpet: Spreads horizontally via runners to form a dense, grass-like mat
- Compact Growth: Short, wide leaves stay low to the substrate
- Easy Maintenance: Thrives in a range of conditions with minimal care
- Fast Spreader: Quick propagation makes it ideal for carpeting large areas
- Versatile Use: Suitable for nano tanks to large aquascapes
