Hydrocotyle leucocephala, Brazilian pennywort, carries roundish bright green leaves on tendril-like stems that trail and climb through the water. It is native to wet and boggy areas of Central and South America, and it works well trailing across the midground or left to float at the surface.
This is one of the easiest plants in the hobby and a genuinely good pick for a first planted tank. It settles into almost any water parameters and grows fast without fuss, and it copes with warm water better than most, which makes it a solid choice for planted Discus and community tanks. It does not lean hard on bright light or added CO2. If the leaf edges start to yellow that usually points to an iron shortfall, which a simple iron fertiliser clears up.
