Hygrophila difformis, better known as water wisteria, is a fast growing stem plant from the Indian subcontinent with a bright, cheerful green. It shows classic heterophylly: broader oval leaves when grown above water, and finely divided, fern-like foliage once submerged. That lacy underwater texture makes it a natural fit for the mid to background of a planted tank.
In your tank it settles quickly and grows fast, soaking up nutrients and helping to stabilise a fresh layout. Give it low to medium light for relaxed, airy growth, or stronger light and good feeding for denser stands with crisp leaf definition. CO2 is not essential but will push speed and fullness if you are chasing a manicured look. Height usually lands around 20 to 30cm in modest setups and can stretch toward 40 to 50cm in taller, brighter tanks, so it fills space without bulldozing the scape. Trim the tops and replant the cuttings to build a lush group.

Our plants are harvested fresh and algae free, and their conversion to submerged growth begins in our grow-out tanks, which maximises success once they settle into your aquarium.
Submerged means the plant is already growing underwater in its aquatic leaf form, so it transitions with little fuss. Emersed means it was grown above the waterline, so expect a short adjustment period as it swaps to its finely divided submerged leaves.
