Lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae, or New Zealand micro sword, is a fine grass-like carpeting plant native to New Zealand. It sends up narrow, upright green blades just a few centimetres tall, giving a soft meadow look. It sits in the foreground, and can run into the midground where you want a taller fringe of grass.
In your tank it spreads slowly by runners to knit together into a fresh green carpet, ideal for riverbank scenes, nano tanks and open natural layouts. It settles in best with medium light and a nutrient-rich substrate, and a little CO2 helps it spread faster and grow more compact. When trimming, cut whole blades right at the base rather than shortening them, as partial cuts tend to make the leaf rot back.

Our plants are harvested fresh and algae free, and their conversion to the submerged form starts in our grow-out tanks, which maximises success once it settles into your aquarium.
Submerged growth is the form the plant takes underwater, fully adapted to life in your aquarium. Emersed growth is grown with the leaves above the waterline, and plants often reshape their new growth as they transition to living fully submerged.
