Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini', a compact form of the plant often called dwarf lobelia, has small rounded leaves in fresh green and a tidy, low bushy habit. It stays much shorter than the standard form, which makes it a natural fit for the foreground or midground where you want a bit of soft green structure.
In your tank it grows in a neat, moderate way rather than racing upward, so it holds its shape and suits detail focused layouts like Dutch and nature style scapes. Trim the tops to keep it compact and encourage a bushier spread, and replant the cuttings to thicken the group. It appreciates a nutrient rich substrate and responds well to water column dosing, with a little extra iron helping the green stay strong. If you have earlier notes it sits happily around 20 to 28C and pH 6.0 to 7.5, and adapts to a range of hardness.

Our plants are harvested fresh and algae free, and the conversion to submerged form begins in our grow-out tanks so you get a head start on success once it settles into your aquarium.
Submerged means the plant has been grown underwater and is already adapted to life beneath the surface. Emersed means it was grown with its leaves above the water line, as many aquatic plants are farmed, and it will drop those leaves and push out new submerged growth after it settles in.
