Ludwigia Palustris

Ludwigia palustris is an aquatic plant that is native to North and Central America. It is known for its bright green leaves and is often used in aquascaping and as a background or midground plant in freshwater aquariums. It is relatively easy to care for, but requires moderate to high lighting and moderate to high levels of CO2 to thrive. It can grow to be quite tall and may need to be trimmed or pruned regularly to keep it in check. It can be propagated by cutting and planting the stem. It can tolerate a wide range of pH levels, and it is a fast grower, which makes it a good option for aquarists who are looking for a plant that will quickly fill in an empty space in their tank.This cosmopolitan stem plant can turn red and is smaller than the well-known Ludwigia repens ’Rubin’. Each stalk becomes 2-4 cm wide and 10-30 cm high. The plant willingly creates side shoots, but cutting increases the amount and the plant becomes even denser. The cut-off shoots quickly generate new roots when planted. The plant becomes intensely red and grows better, when placed in light and with added CO2.
