Rotala rotundifolia, often just called rotala, is a fine stem plant with small rounded leaves on slender upright stems. New growth is green and shifts toward warm pink and red tones under stronger light, and it sits well in the midground or background where its bushy habit adds texture and colour. It is one of the easiest stem plants to keep, so it suits new aquascapers and old hands alike.
Planted in a group the stems knit together into a soft bush. It grows quickly, and regular trimming keeps it dense and compact while the trimmings can be replanted to thicken the stand. Give it good light for the best colour, and it stays healthy across a wide range of setups.

All our plants are harvested fresh, algae free and in great health. The conversion to submerged form starts in our grow-out tanks, which maximises your success once it settles into your aquarium. We recommend a 2HR Aquarist Fertilizer with all our aquarium plants for the best growth, colour and plant health.
Submerged growth is the form that develops underwater, the leaves and colour you want in a planted aquarium. Emersed growth is grown with the leaves above the waterline, which can look different before the plant transitions to its submerged form in your tank.
