The 25cm cube is the smallest tank you can still build a real scape in. It is small enough to sit on a desk, a windowsill or an office shelf, but the cube proportions still give you the height to plant, layer a focal stone and create depth. At 16 litres it is the easiest tank in the range to set up and maintain, which makes it the natural first step into aquascaping or a quiet second tank for a spot where nothing bigger will fit.
Where this cube earns its place is the glass. We use ultra-clear, low-iron glass. Standard aquarium glass carries a faint green tint that mutes plant colour and dulls hardscape; low-iron removes it, so reds read as red and your scape looks the way it does in your head rather than through a bottle. The rimless build with precision-polished, mitred edges means no plastic bracing breaking the view from any angle, and a clean seam line that holds up to an algae scraper run into the corners.
At this size the cube shape is its strength. It suits a single nature-style focal stone, a compact Iwagumi, a Wabi-Kusa, or a moss and bonsai-style scape, and it works well as a planted betta home. Add a clip-on nano light and a small filter and you have a complete display in a footprint smaller than a sheet of paper.
What fits in a 16L cube
- Betta: a single betta with gentle filtration and planting.
- Nano fish: a small group of one peaceful nano species such as Chili Rasbora or Celestial Pearl Danio, once fully cycled and well planted.
- Planted or hardscape only: Iwagumi, Wabi-Kusa, moss and bonsai-style scapes.
A cube this size is best kept lightly stocked. It is not suited to goldfish, cichlids, schooling community fish or anything that needs swimming length. If you want more stocking room, step up to our 30cm cube.
