Vallisneria spiralis 'Tiger', or tiger val, is an Asian grass-like plant named for the fine dark striping along its narrow green leaves. Each leaf runs 30 to 50cm long and only 1 to 2cm wide, so it sits along the background as a swaying green backdrop without a heavy, overpowering look.
This is one of the easiest background plants to keep, settling into almost any light and water. It sends out runners readily and quickly forms a tidy row of daughter plants, so a few starters soon become a full stand. Because the leaves are relatively short and narrow, they suit smaller aquariums and will not shade out lower-growing plants in front.

Our plants are harvested fresh and sent algae free. The conversion to sturdy submerged growth begins in our grow-out tanks, which gives your plant a strong head start and maximises success once it settles into your aquarium.
