The Wyin Aqua Citric Acid CO₂ System (5L) is a powerful and budget-friendly alternative to pressurized CO₂ systems. Designed for larger or high-demand planted aquariums, this complete stainless steel setup generates CO₂ through a chemical reaction between baking soda, citric acid, and water. The mixture is added directly into the stainless steel cylinder—no extra chambers or high-pressure gas refills required.
The 5-litre polished stainless steel cylinder offers extended operation before refilling and is built for durability with a sleek, corrosion-resistant finish. It’s paired with a precision regulator, 12V DC solenoid valve, and a standard aluminium bubble counter with an integrated check valve. Also included is a ceramic diffuser, 2 metres of CO₂-resistant tubing, and a U-bend connector for clean routing over the tank rim.
This system is ideal for aquarists who want longer intervals between refills and increased control over CO₂ delivery to support healthy, lush plant growth.
How It Works:
Add citric acid, baking soda, and water directly into the stainless steel cylinder. As the solution reacts, it produces CO₂ gas, which is then regulated and delivered into your aquarium. No gas refills or high-pressure cylinders required—just top up the mixture as needed. Please note: baking soda and citric acid are not included.
Instructions for Use (5L Cylinder):
- Prepare Your Mixtures: Use 700 grams of citric acid and 800 grams of baking soda. These materials are not included.
- Assemble the Regulator: Attach the filter membrane to the bottom of the CO₂ regulator.
- Fill the Cylinder: Add 700g citric acid and 800g baking soda directly into the 5L stainless steel cylinder.
- Add Water: Tilt the cylinder at a 45° angle and pour in 1000ml (1L) of tap or distilled water.
- Attach the Regulator: Secure the regulator to the cylinder and monitor the pressure gauge as the reaction begins.
- Connect Bubble Counter: Fill the bubble counter 3/4 full with water and attach it to the regulator. Connect the included CO₂ tubing.
- Complete the Setup: Connect tubing to the diffuser, using the U-bend connector to route it neatly into the aquarium. Secure with suction cups.

Adjust Flow: Control CO₂ output using the bubble counter. A typical rate is around 1 to 1.5 bubbles per second—higher rates will deplete the mixture more quickly.
