Wyin Aqua Quick-Plug Filter Hose Connector

Cleaning a canister filter usually means pulling hoses off, chasing drips across the floor and getting the siphon going again afterwards. The Wyin Aqua Quick Plug Filter Hose Connector stops all of that. You fit it into your filter hoses once. After that, you close the valves and the filter unplugs in seconds, with the water staying in the lines.

How it works

The connector comes in two halves, and each half has its own shut-off valve. Close both valves and pull the halves apart. To reconnect, push them back together. Water stays in the hose on both sides, so the lines don't drain and your filter starts up quickly once it's plugged back in. You can also partly close a valve to slow the flow if your filter is too strong for your tank.

Choosing your size

The size is the inside and outside diameter of your filter hose. Measure your tubing and choose the size that matches.

• 20/25mm: larger canister filters and high-flow setups

Installation

1. Pick a spot on each hose that's easy to reach, ideally just above the filter.
2. Switch the filter off and cut the hose.
3. Undo the lock nut, push the hose fully onto the barb and tighten the nut back down.
4. Fit the other end the same way, with the arrows pointing in the direction of water flow.
5. Open both valves, turn the filter on and check for drips.
