That oily, dusty film on top of your tank water isn't just ugly. It cuts down oxygen exchange, dulls your lighting and makes even a great aquascape look neglected. It's especially common in planted tanks running fertilisers and CO2. The Wyin Aqua SteelFlow Surface Skimmer pulls that film off the surface and filters it out, so your water stays clear and your tank looks clean from the top down.
How it works
A small, quiet 90 L/h pump draws water in through the acrylic skimmer head at the surface. Surface film and floating debris get trapped in the sponge, and clean water flows back out through the perforated base. It runs off USB power and holds onto the glass with two suction cups.

Setup
- Rinse the skimmer and sponge in tank water.
- Stick it to the inside of the glass so the top of the skimmer head sits right at the waterline.
- Plug the USB cable into a USB power adapter, keeping the plug and adapter well away from water.
- Check that surface water is being drawn into the head. If it isn't, move the skimmer up or down until it is.
Cleaning: Unplug the skimmer, lift off the steel cap, take out the sponge and rinse it in old tank water. Rinse it whenever you notice the flow slowing down.
