APT Sky Plus

APT SKY PLUS is the “GH-plus-with-a-little-KH” remineraliser for aquarists who want stability and flexibility in the same tank. It restores calcium and magnesium to RO/very soft water without adding NPK, so your fertiliser routine stays predictable, while a modest KH lift (~2 dKH) nudges pH into a steady 7.2–7.6—comfortable for mixed communities, Neocaridina, livebearers and most common plants.

If you already run soft water or RO/RODI, simply dose 15 ml per 60 L of new water. If you have harder tap water (or you’re not sure), take a quick GH reading with any common test kit (your local water report works too). Then use the Dosage Calculator to determine how much to add: for the very first dose, set Water Volume = your tank’s total water volume and GH Reading = your tank’s current GH. For subsequent water changes, set Water Volume = the volume of new tap water added and GH Reading = your tap water’s GH. It’s that simple—target numbers, no guesswork.

Adding SKY PLUS is flexible as well. You can pre-mix the measured amount in a small container of water and pour in the milky solution, or add the powder directly to the tank. It’s fine if it dusts the plants; it dissolves quickly and evenly.

Now for the fun part—playtime. Many layouts mix species with conflicting preferences: soft-water crypts and stems alongside KH-loving plants or shrimp. SKY and SKY PLUS remove that hassle. In true soft-water tanks, SKY PLUS gives shrimp a helpful buffer for moults and day-to-day stability, while still keeping conditions friendly for most plants. The catch is basic water chemistry: you need to start with soft water or RO/RODI. There isn’t an easy additive-only way to turn hard water into soft; dilute hard tap with RO, then remineralise to taste.

SKY vs SKY PLUS (how to choose)
Choose APT SKY PLUS when you want GH remineralisation with a gentle KH/pH lift (great for Neocaridina, guppies/mollies and snails). Choose APT SKY when you need to raise GH only and leave KH/pH unchanged (ideal for tetras, rare soft-water plants and Caridina). Both play nicely with shrimp.

A nice bonus from the range: APT powders are super-soluble, non-caking and easy to handle. As a GH booster, APT SKY is about 3× as concentrated as many conventional remineralisers (per label figures), making target-hitting surprisingly economical—and SKY PLUS brings that same clean handling with a built-in, modest KH bump.
