Aquapro Stainless Steel Lily Pipe Set with Surface Skimmer

If you want filter pipes that look the part without the fragility of glass, this is the set. The inflow and outflow pipes are SUS 304 stainless steel, the outlet is a clear lily nozzle, and there's a surface skimmer built into the return, so your filter clears the oily film off the top of the tank as it runs.

The skimmer works off your filter's own return flow. Water coming back from the canister runs down the steel outflow pipe and through a clear T-piece on its way to the lily nozzle. As it passes, it pulls water down a vertical skimmer tube whose notched top sits at the waterline, so the surface layer, film and all, is drawn in and mixed into the return instead of sitting on top of the tank. No pump, no power lead and no extra skimmer box in the tank.

On the other side, the inflow pipe has a slotted strainer at the bottom to stop debris being drawn into your filter. It's built in sections that push together with O-ring seals, and the modular design means extra extension sections can be added end to end if you need a longer reach (extensions not included).

Two clear holders clamp onto the tank rim with a thumb screw and detach easily, so lifting the pipes out for maintenance doesn't mean undoing your whole setup. Being steel, the pipes won't crack if they get knocked while you work. Keep them clear with a flexible pipe brush.

Setting it up

Fit the holders to the rim, hang the pipes and push your 16/22 mm filter hose onto the barbs. For the skimmer to work, the notched top of the skimmer tube needs to sit right at the water surface, so set your water level to suit and top up as the tank evaporates.
